Kama’aina

In the Hawaiian translation this word, means “child of the land”.

These days most folks refer to it as the people who come and live here. Tourist and locals refer to it as a discount.

As for myself, I have named this sculpture Kama’aina out of respect for the first Hawaiians, who came here to these islands from Polynesia.

However, legend has it that menehune’s,

“ the little people”, we’re really the first people here.
